Sadam is Executed

Daltons Briefs picks up reports from sources suggesting he was killed at 9:09

To build or not to build

So the democrats win the November elections both nationwide and locally by a landslide. Are they a little full of themselves?

Here in Porter County I say they are.

Have you followed the story in southern Porter County the last couple weeks?

  • Today's story in the Post-Tribune showcases the debate. Our congressman got us $4 million plus to improve county road 100 south ... the road that becomes 109th street and goes all the way west to the new I-65 interchange. Bob Harper, our county's "against everything" comissioner, says he'd rather not have the money. Or maybe he'd rather use it to extend 149 thru the county. Or maybe he'd rather have it used to extend Willowcreek from Portage to S.R. 130. Or maybe ....

  • Mitch Daniels has been travelling around the state suggeting the Illiana Expressway should start in three years and be a toll road. What does this have to do with the above debate? Well, some have suggested that the Illiana is really going to happen much further out and that 100 South will be the east-west connector until then. Whether Mr. Harper wants the road or not, the traffic will go there.

Some places to go to do some research and bring back some ideas:

www.nwitimes.com try the bulletin board though it really isnt nearly as good as it used to be

Bulletins of Hate

I really miss that NWI Times bulletin board. There was a constant source of opinions and thoughts about things political in Porter County. Did you know that the reason they took the site down was that someone posted (not me by the way) a thread that suggested one of our politicians be "dragged in the street and shot" or something along those lines. That politician then complained and perhaps even threatened a lawsuit so they pulled the entire bulletin board down.

Wow. In the age of the internet that seems a bit jumpy!

I hope a new bulletin board will take its place soon, if you happen across it let me know.

What happens to "The Region"

Can we get rid of the moniker "Region' or "Northwest Indiana"? Why would we want to get rid of either?

Well one professor is researching just that re-branding option.

Should we be South Shore?
Should we be Chicago South Shore?
Should we be Northlake Indiana?

Check out my post on Active Rain which directs to the original post
