In two highly contested races in Alaska it would appear that bad Republicans have barely won their primaries, this is a poor reflection on Republicans' ability to remove their own bad apples. Republicans won't be able to retake the moral leadership of this country until they can remove their own bad candidates. There could have been some Democratic "chaosing" but to be frank our nation's affinity for returning power hungry politicians to Congress, merely because they have power and we don't want to start at the bottom, is getting really old to both sides of the aisle. Here are results so far in US Rep race, Senate race wasn't even this close. Maybe just maybe the last couple precincts or absentee ballots will favor the challenger.
Update: Still close, and no good news for challenger,
I did get further indications that Ron Paul's group was backing the incumbent. How is that even possible, the group most wanting change and smaller government, backs an incumbent with corruption problems?

I thought that things were going to change quite a bit more up there than they have with Palin's election in 2006. There had already been an expose on Don Young at that point and a lot of Alaskans could see that Ted Stevens was on the dole, too.
That's why Palin's election was so huge, because she had cleaned out the corruption in the city of Wasilla as the mayor - and man is she charismatic. She kicked out former Senator Frank Murkowski who had some huge ties to the oil contributions. I really figured that it was going to be an out with the shady money and in with the new (and young!) - a real party takeover.
Unfortunately those "new" are going to be the democrats. Begich is going to roll over Stevens and I think Young is on the way out, too.
As for that Ron Paul endorsement - I'm usually a fan of his, but he got a scathing email from me today.
Seriously Alaska GOP, what are you thinking?!?
