What's the real story at Porter Co. Animal Shelter?

True, many of the topics on this site seem more important, like Presidential elections and region-wide initiatives ... but something about this animal shelter story has a ring to it.

Why does one Porter County Commissioner seem to spend so much time on this one department of the county? In today's version of craziness we learn that Bob Harper (D) Porter County Commissioner had a volunteer arrested for not leaving when ordered to by ... Bob. Why was he even there? See also Snarls over Animal Shelter at meeting.

My favorite part of the story is when we learn that upon arrest, the man receives a letter at home from Bob Harper offering to defend him in court. Lol.

Ok, so I have read a few of the passionate posts on the NWI message board, can some of you that have followed this story closely plese catch us all up? Is this political? Is this an enviro-wacko thing? Who's making the animal shelter a mess? Update: You can't fire a volunteer

Heh. Talk about great minds thinking alike . . .

I just posted about this at my own blog, and followed the links to put the pieces together. The moral of the story is apparently "Don't question Bob Harper about money -- EVER."

If half the allegations of this story are true, somebody needs to go to jail for animal neglect.

Go, read already: http://jdlong.blogspot.com/2008/08/you-cant-fire-volunteer-but-big-mouth.html
