"Indiana Democrats are going to have a hard time defending their slim state House majority this year. They hold the chamber by the narrowest of margins -- 51-49 -- and Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels has opened up a big lead in his reelection campaign."
Update: Daniels faces JLT tomorrow night in a debate expected to basically close the deal.
"But there seems to be no overarching theme in Indiana politics this year, aside from the economy. Passage of a property tax relief package crafted by Daniels has helped both the governor and his party."
There are a few competitive races in Indiana this year -- but only a few. Most observers believe that the House could fall either way and that neither party will win a majority large enough to keep the chamber from being competitive once again in 2010."

That would be a dream come true. We're doing our part in the Lafayette area. We're sending Randy Truitt (R) to the statehouse. He's a true statesman and a REAL conservative, and I doubt he'll listen to lobbyists who are sent to promote special interests.
Diana, that's great to hear. I think we're all so busy in our own local races that it's hard to keep track of the dozens of other great conservative candidates out there.
After the debate last nite, I stand by my prediction, 52-48 and a return of control to Republicans in the House. Mitch was solid ... JLT was mean and attacking. Frankly, although I'd have to say Mitch won, Andy Horning was funny and provided enough comic relief to gain a second place showing.
