We join the South Bend Tribune, a rather left-leaning newspaper, in endorsing Ed Charbonneau, R-Valparaiso for the 5th Senate District which affect much of Porter County. The bi-partisan support for our Senator shows two things:
- How strong Ed's first term was in showing his commitment to Indiana and NW Indiana
- How electing any Democrats to the Indiana Senate in a year when Mitch Daniels will win by more than 20 points, and probably regain control of the Indiana House, would be pretty ineffective.
Indiana Senate
In District 5, challenger Larry Balmer, a Democrat from Plymouth, faces incumbent Ed Charbonneau, R-Valparaiso. Balmer is a health care security consultant and a former South Bend police officer.
Charbonneau, who is completing the term of retired Sen. Vic Heinold, is interim president and CEO of The Methodist Hospitals Inc. Charbonneau, in his only Senate session, has shown special interest in utility issues and strong advocacy for South Shore Railroad improvements. The Tribune endorses Ed Charbonneau.

This is the ONLY place where I've seen anyone think that the Republicans can possibly win the House back this year. Did you really write that without laughing?
