Post-primary summaries

Indiana was front and center yesterday, with the nation watching for signs of what may happen in November. Some key races, and I'm sure lots of opinions from commenters:
  • Dan Coats wins in a five-way primary for United States Senate and will carry the Republicans at the top of the ticket into November. Some were surprised that John Hostettler was a distant 3rd, and relative newcomer but now statewide name Marlin Stutzman nestled between the two in 2nd. The top three candidates will unite I'm sure to help Senator Coats in his bid to defeat Brad Ellsworth, I haven't heard as much from the distant fourth and fifth guys Behney and Bates.
  • In the nasty 9th Congressional Mike Sodrel was beaten by Todd Young. I called this one wrong, and felt it would go the same way as the Coats election for name recognition. I don't know the deep south as well as Scott at Hoosier Pundit, so check out his blog for thoughts.
  • Here locally former Mayor Dan Klein won easily in his primary for state rep, and will face Shelli Vandenburgh in what I think will one of the tightest races in the state for control of the House.
  • Not a lot of surprises in Lake or Porter county races, perhaps Jon Snyder's win for GOP Assessor although he ran a solid campaign and terrific support from south county.
What are your thoughts on primaries? Did someone win that surprised you? Did your favorite lose and you're angry and want revenge?
