Empowering Terror: Why the TSA and the Federal Government have it wrong

Empowering Terror: Why the TSA and the Federal Government have it wrong

Terror is quite possibly the worst feeling anyone could ever endure. Sexual assault victims know that feeling. Kidnapping victims have a certain ultra-awareness of the horror one experiences when they are detained against their will.

  • Define Terror: The overwhelming feeling of horror or anxiety.

  • Define Terrorist: A radical who employs terror as a political weapon; usually organizes with other terrorists in small cells; often uses religion as a cover for terrorist activities.

Terror plots do succeed. It is a reality, However, many are foiled or botched as well. A Terrorist need not succeed to obtain victory in their goal. All a terrorists needs is to attempt said plot to achieve their desired result. The underwear bomber and the shoe bomber are both prime examples of botched plots that succeeded in creating a feeling of panic, horror or anxiety with flying.

The main problem is clear, at least in my mind. We have declared war against a tactic. In WWII if America had declared war against the Blitzkrieg, FDR might have become the laughing stock of politics. A nation cannot declare war against a tactic. Rather, a nation declares war against an ideology. Essentially, we went to war in Europe against Nazism. This is the problem with our current foreign policy and domestic policy; we are fighting against a tactic.

By fighting against a tactic and not addressing the real problem, the ideology of Islam, we are losing ourselves and redefining what it means to be American. With that said, just like not all Germans were Nazis, not all Muslims are terrorists either. Nevertheless, understanding what we are really fighting against is whats at stake.

Islam is a violent ideology that threatens and is incompatible with Liberty, in every sense. If we are to be victorious, we need to redefine what we are actually fighting for. If we give up our liberties and dignities, then we have redefined who we are and the terrorists have won. The solution is simple, be American, be proud and opt out. By allowing these ridiculous indignities to continue, we are empowering Terror.

There are better solutions, just government never has them.
