Our precedent demonstrates that Congress had the power to impose the exaction in Section 5000A under the taxing power, and that Section 5000A need not be read to do more than impose a tax. This is sufficient to sustain it.
Let the arguments and election spinning begin. I feel this protected Republicans from having to deal with pre-existing conditions and those who can't get insured ... and gives them a chance to attack Democrats for yet another tax. This protected Democrats from spins suggesting they accomplished nothing in four years.
Predictions basically remain at this point in my mind: Romney will win in a close call which will probably involve once again having to help Americans see the difference between a popular vote and the electoral college process.
